On January 30, Kristen & Derek, Carrie & Evan, Tonya & Dakota, Scott and I loaded into the van (with a wheelchair in the back for Dakota - he was recovering from his pcl repair) and headed off to the Pabst Mansion. What a beautiful place decorated for the Christmas season! The woodwork, grand staircase, huge pocket doors, original furninshings, and knowlegable tourguides made the visit well worth our time. Then off to Mayfair Mall for Maggiano's Italian Restaurant.

Two repair jobs needed

Lydia spun on some ice on the way to school in December, hitting a mailbox and the hood experienced a rip. I'm glad Lydia did not experience any physical injuries, although I believe it was an event she'd like to never repeat.

Elise and I got the rolls baked early this year and put them in the freezer - unfortunately I forgot to take them out of the freezer. Jenna came to me during the meal and asked where they were. She ran down to the basement freezer, thawed out a bag in the microwave and served them - better late than never?

Unfortunately the above table never quite got everyone sitting down for a picture. Carrie made cut out leaf and pumpkin cookies on which she wrote a number with frosting. Before the meal we all picked a number out of a bowl and sat down to the plate with the corresponding cookie number. Lydia, Carrie, and Lina

On Friday evening, the Paul McClain family, the Dorns, the Buglers, the Bensons and the Blaubachs ate a dinner of Aunt Marilee's spaghetti - mmmmmmm! Then we had a time of singing Christmas Carols per Grandpa McClain's request. Don't let Uncle Peter fool you - he's looking at the computer on his lap.

On Friday evening, Aunt Sandy & Uncle Clarence, Uncle Steve, Aunt Debbie & Uncle Bob, Uncle Mark & Aunt Amy with XW and SQ, and Grandma and Grandpa Blaubach came over to welcome Shen Quin (pronounced Shen Cheen). Great memories!

This year we went to BD Mongolian Grill for the traditional married children's Christmas gift. We sorely missed Angie and Dylan as this was the first year we celebrated without them. As you can see by the smiles on our faces, the food was superbly yummy!! Toby and Belle accompanied us. Dinner was followed by the movie "Blindside".

Christmas Eve we went to the service at church where we learned that Jesus probably lay in a stone water trough which reminds us that Jesus is the living, life-giving water. When we got home everyone dressed in their jams and settled down in sleeping bags for the night while Dad started a fire (in the fire place:) The four children receive new pillows with blue flannel pillowcases with snowflakes made by their mother.

I think Nathan and I were the only ones awake at the end of the movie - White Christmas.

Elise's Debut as Donner

Elise was given the part of "Donner" for her Christmas Program at school called the "North Pole Star" which is a take off of American Idol in which the eight reindeer compete with a song and back-up dancers to win the North Pole Star. They actually had a vote to see who the crowd would choose. The boy to the far left won the North Pole Star trophy, but Elise did a great job. She didn't seem nervous at all up there! She is pictured here with the other seven reindeer who are all asking the crowd to vote for their performance:)

After picking up Kristen, Mya, and Toby from the airport we ventured over to the Bethlehem Marketplace at Elmbrook church. We ate lunch which consisted of middle eastern fare - yummy!!

Then we got ready to enter the marketplace that took us back to the time of Jesus' birth. I especially enjoyed seeing the camels and tasting the food. We were given coins with which we could purchase small items from the merchants. They were abuzz with the news about the star overhead and the rumor that a king had been born.

Our New Guest

We have a new guest named Cherise. She is Evan's younger sister. Cherise has two rats, Jack and Piper. On Tuesday Piper died, but on Thursday when I got home from school there was a new rat (much smaller,though). Cherise came up with the name Sparky. It is a lot of fun playing and spending time with Cherise.

Co-op

There is a co-op that comes to our house on Friday afternoons. The kids that come are about six and under. Many times, Lina gets to come and visit. The little kids really enjoy her. During the hour and half the kids are here, they make crafts, play (sometimes outsid if it is warm enough), and they also have story time.

This little boy is Kaedon Powers. His mother just had a little baby boy, which they named Kelsey. Each child's name in the Power's family starts with the letter K.

Chicago Couple Christmas Present

Every year the married Blaubach children go somewhere special instead of getting a Christmas present. This year, they all took the train down to Chicago. Also, they went to the museum of Science and Industry.

It was a frosty one today. Most of the schools were off (what's that like our fifth day off?) because of the plummeting temperatures. We plan to all go back to the normal schedule tomorrow- then again, Lydia and Nathan are praying for a month off. The cold isn't so bad as long as the the heater is nearby and you're not the one who has to go chase the dog outside. Don't worry. I'm not bitter. No, seriously, we are very thankful for the warm house that God has given us.

It was so cold this morning that Elise had to empty the dishwasher with mittens on. I have no idea why this dumb thing flipped the picture upside down. Just think of it metaphorically- like, our live being flipped upside down by this cold day, we have to wear mittens to protect us, and we are somehow like dishes because you know that we have to somehow relate to dishes in one way or another. Maybe it's a good thing I'm going back to school tomorrow- well yeah, ya think?

It's been snowing a whole heap up here. Did we ever tell you that we planted some new trees in the back- Lydia brought home the seeds for them after Mum sent her to town to sell the cow.

Did I mention that we bought some horses? Nathan went into town to find him a woman, but came home with these. One lone woman with seven backwoodsmen.

And our new tv? You'll never guess what loud applause this stunning hat receives. We really love it. That's why we're smiling so big in the picture- Elise and Jenna have really grown since you've been gone, probably because they've been breathing for the first time(so funny).

We got Lydia a new car for her 17 year and 1 month birthday. Right after we wasted our money on that ridiculous new tv.

Oh yeah, we got another family picture. Unfortunately, most of our family is missing at the present time, so we just got a couple of extras. Don't worry, we made sure they had the same name and each of them have a picture of their real life character in their pocket.
